Who publishes the content

Content is published by Chimney Sweep Central, the organization operating this directory and educational resource. We do not currently claim that articles are authored or reviewed by a named chimney professional, engineer, building official or medical professional. Where a credentialed external source informs a claim, that source is identified rather than presented as part of our staff.

Why the content exists

The content is designed to help homeowners describe an observable concern, understand differences between service scopes, compare companies using consistent questions and recognize when online research should stop in favor of emergency or qualified on-site help.

How educational pages are produced

1. A page begins with a homeowner task, service or observable symptom.
2. Drafting separates general education from property-specific diagnosis.
3. Safety and consumer claims are checked against relevant government sources when available.
4. Industry standards and certification resources are labeled as industry—not government—sources.
5. Pages receive metadata, canonical, schema, internal-link and indexability checks.
6. Material corrections are applied without changing dates merely to imply freshness.

Automation and AI disclosure

Software and generative tools may assist with outlines, initial drafting, formatting, consistency checks, structured data and fictional editorial images. Automation is not treated as professional expertise and is not used to claim a property visit, customer result, certification or firsthand local inspection. Generated images are descriptive editorial scenes, not documentary evidence of a listed company or real customer.

Directory data method

Company pages are assembled from structured directory records. A profile may show source count, verification state and last-updated date, but directory verification means only that defined record checks were completed. It is not an endorsement, performance guarantee or substitute for current license, insurance and service-area confirmation.

Index-quality rule: a company profile is eligible for the public sitemap only when its directory completeness score is at least 50, it has at least one recorded source, one or more recorded services, and a direct phone number or website. Records below that threshold remain accessible for comparison but carry a noindex directive until the underlying data improves. A city page is likewise index-eligible only when at least one company record in that city meets this threshold. Structured company lists omit limited-source records.
